SALALAH: Dhofar Municipality has launched Kiddy Time at Awqad Children’s Park as part of Khareef Dhofar 2026, creating an interactive environment where children can explore education, careers and technology through a mix of learning and entertainment.
Running until September 5, the event features a Children’s University with eight specialised colleges, themed educational cities and a Future City dedicated to technology and robotics. The initiative aims to encourage curiosity, develop children’s skills and inspire them to explore future opportunities.
Unlike traditional entertainment events, Kiddy Time places children at the centre of the experience, allowing them to participate through hands-on activities, simulations and workplace-style experiences. They can explore different professions and fields of study while combining learning with play.
The Children’s University serves as one of the main attractions, offering children a realistic university experience that includes registration, student services, academic colleges and a graduation ceremony.
The university features eight colleges covering engineering, commerce, agriculture, medicine, aviation, arts, media and sports. Through interactive lessons and practical activities, children learn the basics of each field before receiving graduation gowns and celebrating their achievements on stage.
The learning journey continues through themed cities linked to each college. Engineering graduates can explore construction, design and innovation at the Engineering City, while aviation students experience the Pilots’ City and learn about aircraft and air navigation.
The Sports City introduces children to teamwork, discipline, fitness and sportsmanship, while Talent City provides opportunities to explore art, music, acting and media in a creative environment that encourages self-expression.
The Future City introduces children to emerging technologies through science-based attractions, including virtual reality experiences, robotics displays, interactive laboratories and exhibits explaining natural phenomena such as volcanic activity.
The event also features a Military Discipline City, designed to promote responsibility, teamwork and commitment through activities such as challenge-based games and vehicle experiences.
Visitors can enjoy additional attractions, including a suspended cinema, theatre performances, competitions, family dining facilities and a range of illuminated displays featuring giant characters, colourful installations and themed walkways.
Dhofar Municipality said Kiddy Time aims to go beyond entertainment by creating an educational environment that helps children discover their interests, develop confidence and gain early exposure to different professions and areas of knowledge.
The event forms part of the wider activities of Khareef Dhofar 2026, supporting efforts to provide innovative family experiences while promoting learning, creativity and skill development among young visitors.
